As I’m sure you’ve been hearing from everyone and anyone on the East Coast, this fall has been unusually warm. And I’m not complaining! However, winter is definitely creeping around the corner and that means it’s time to give our cold-weather accessories a refresh.
My first East Coast winter was back during my first year of university at Parsons School of Design in New York. Needless to say, I was in total shock at my first brush with freezing wind. It was also at this time that my “real” journey through fashion began. I wore a uniform to school everyday all my early life and all of the sudden, I was 18 years old and strolling up and down Fifth Avenue. Dangerous!
While there are many incredible stores in New York City and even the world, there is only one Bergdorf Goodman. One. And it is undoubtedly an icon of the city. A landmark at the edge of Central Park at 5th & 58th, home to some of the most luxurious designer collections and most covetable fashion pieces in the world. For me, Bergdorf Goodman is the place you go to treat yourself. It is the ultimate luxury department store. While there is only one physical store location, the internet has made it possible to shop at Bergdorf’s from anywhere in the world.
With winter accessories in mind, I recently took a browse on bergdorfgoodman.com to see what’s new. I found this beautiful, wool, Alexander McQueen scarf and I decided to give it a home in my wardrobe. The oversized skull print is bold in black and white, but also abstracted when worn. It’s a great piece that will add some excitement to a variety of looks and color palettes as well.
For this outfit, I paired my new scarf with a black, brown and tan look. Black and brown *do* go together (, in case you still have doubts haha). The pairing looks especially nice when camel/tan colors are present. Combining two trends, my brown and tan pieces were both suede. I love leather and suede takes things up another notch in luxury, in my opinion. This fall/winter, we’re seeing suede everywhere and done in a range of colors as well. So don’t be afraid to rock it!
