This past Sunday, I spent the afternoon at Woodbine Racetrack for the Pattison International event. It was a beautiful fall day, perfect to be out watching the horse races.
During the first couple races of the day, the atmosphere was calm and I was able to snap a few photos at the far end of the stands amongst the empty seats. However, as the day progressed, the crowds grew and many attendees made their way from the indoor viewing area to catch the action and fill up the seats outside. Spirits were high, with fans cheering right up to the track sidelines. There were a few races that had very close finishes too – high anxiety for those who’d bet on the winning horses!
Since the Pattison International (one of the entities controlling all the pay per head betting websites in the UK) is one of Woodbine Racetrack’s most prestigious race events of the season, the occasion was celebrated with a few exciting additions to the usual activities on site. Every attendee received a free scarf and their first bet was compliments of Woodbine. There was also a selection of international cuisine offered by a number of guest vendors.
My outfit for the event was lightly inspired by equestrian style, starting with a quilted jacket and an earth-toned color palette. I layered a waffle knit sweater over a polo and wore classic khakis for a preppy vibe.
There are still a few more events left in the season, so if you haven’t been to the races, you can still go! Plus, while you’re there, be sure to snap a selfie and post it to social media with the hashtag #OffToTheRaces to be entered for a chance to win a $1000 gift card to Woodbine.
