House of the Week: High Park Century Coach House with a Stunning Modern Interior

Fueling my penchant for real estate and interior design, I’ve decided to start a new ‘House of the Week’ series, to profile some of my favorite homes for sale in my hometown of Toronto (and possibly other cities later too!). I’m hoping to showcase some of our beautiful city’s most unique properties, great buys and the homes that make you just go “WOW”.

To kick things off, I’m starting with this stunning High Park century coach house that has a completely new, modern interior. I stumbled upon the listing back in the fall of 2018, when it was on the market for $3,999,500. It’s still on the market now, re-listed in April 2019 for $3,499,500. A $500,000 drop in list price.

Here are the facts:

Address: 51R Indian Grove, Toronto
Price
: $3,499,500
MLS #: W4395100
Neighbourhood: High Park-Swansea
Age: 100+
Garage type: Carport
Total parking spots: 3
Garage spots: 1
Basement: None
Exterior: Brick
Property taxes: $524/month
AC type: Central Air
Heat type: Forced Air, Gas
Lot depth: 67.00 Feet
Lot front: 65.00 Feet
Lot irregularities: 10′ X 183′ Rear Coach House

It’s certainly a unique home, with its unassuming facade. I love the combination of the heritage exterior and modern interior. It’s such an exciting surprise. The design is also quite warm, with natural wood elements throughout, such as the beautiful window frames and kitchen ceiling. The most amazing part of this home is definitely the wide wall of doors that opens right into the treed backyard.

A few dealbreakers in my opinion are the fact that there is no garage and for the price, you’d expect this property to actually back onto High Park, like some of the homes on Ellis Park Rd, but instead this house is tucked behind another house on Indian Grove. Hence, the century coach house designation.

What do you think of this House of the Week? Buy or Bye?
