A Day with Dyson at NYFW

It’s been a minute since I’ve been down to New York for fashion week. I skipped a couple seasons, but last week I was back in town for the Spring 2018 shows.

Fashion Week always gives me a “back-to-school” feel, bringing together the fashion industry after summer, and right at the beginning of September too. It kicks off the fall season – arguably the best season for dressing and style.

This season, I took on the week through the lens of the Dyson Supersonic. Since it’s debut just over a year ago, the Dyson Supersonic has revolutionized the way hair is dried and styled. It’s a whole new tool that looks nothing like what you’d expect from a hair dryer, with increased performance as well. And yes, it really does dry your hair in half the time, keeping your hair healthier and smoother with a soft luster.

In the short time that it has been around, the Dyson Supersonic has already become an essential part of the fashion world, both on and off the runway.

I’ve become quite familiar with the Supersonic, using it daily in my routine. Fashion Week was no exception. If anything, it was even more important to make sure my hair was on point for the shows!

Backstage, the Dyson Supersonic can be seen in the hands of all of the leading hairstylists. At the Brock Collection show, Supersonics were used by the whole hair team to create the show’s hair look, lead by stylist, James Pecis. The look was a loosely curled and pinned back style, with a few wispy hairs for a perfectly undone, effortless look. The style was a perfect compliment to the classical, feminine aesthetic of the collection, which featured floral prints, ruffles and lace. Fabrics were light and airy, billowing as the models walked.

Check it out below, as well as the gorgeous runway, which was covered in fresh flowers!

After the Brock Collection show, I headed over to Union Square with my friend and fellow blogger, Jill Lansky to check out the Dyson Supersonic Lab pop-up. The Lab is open to the public and welcoming passers-by the opportunity to test out the Supersonic first hand and get a complimentary hair touch up or blowout.

We sat down for some touch ups ourselves, to keep our hair looking fashion-week fresh all day long!

For the second half of the day, I switched things up with a bolder look in all white and a pop of orange (by way of this Kuwalla bomber jacket). Here are a couple of shots in SoHo, before we headed out for a night in Brooklyn at Refinery’s 29 Rooms party.

Until next time…

Special Thanks to the Dyson team for their incredible hospitality during the trip and to my friend, Jill Lansky for helping me capture my fashion week looks!
